The sculpture was part of a sculpture trail celebrating 50 years of the Forest of Bowland (Lancashire) being designated as an area of natural beauty. The design concept was inspired by the layered contours and undulations of the shrubbery seen throughout the forest, touching on the seasonal changes in colour. The sculpture is also a celebration of the wildlife prevalent in the forest, illustrated through the grace of majestic outstretched wings inspired by the Hen Harrier, the symbolic icon of the Forest of Bowland.
