This project was part of a larger initiative that saw the community of Blackrod & Horwich come together to commemorate and celebrate the lives of the servicemen & women who fell during WW1. The project involved re-enactments of school life during WW1 and drawing children and objects from that period. These drawings were later translated into metal form and became the stamen of the poppy sculpture. Glass mosaic tiles and stainless steel was used to reflect the fallen and may homage to their sacrifice.
